Bonga Mokoena to join Alexander Forbes

Bonga Mokoena is to join Alexander Forbes as Head of Institutional in the Financial Services division from the 1st December 2009.  

Mokoena is currently chief executive and principal officer of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund where he has overall responsibility for its retirement administration operations and management of the fund’s assets. 

Mokoena is also currently serving as a non-executive member of the Board of the Principal Officers Association (POA) and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the South African Pension Funds Investment Forum (SAPFIF). 

Anton Ossip, Group Head of Operations at Alexander Forbes, said that he was looking forward to having someone of Bonga’s calibre join Alexander Forbes’ highly successful institutional business team.  

“His appointment is coup for us and further underlines our ongoing commitment to transformation. Bonga will complement our existing management team and help maintain and grow our market leading position.”  

Prior to joining Eskom, Mokoena was National General Manager at Old Mutual Corporate where he was responsible for Corporate Client Services, business development and client relationship management. 

Mokoena’s career started at accountants Fisher Hoffman in 1989, where he completed his articles towards his CA (SA) qualification.  

This was followed by various managerial and leadership positions at Nedcor Bank Limited, from 1994 to 1996, as well as Transnet Limited, from 1997 to 2003.
